New Beginnings

As we celebrate the start of a new year it’s no surprise what’s been on my mind lately — New Beginnings. The nature of entering into a new calendar year offers a chance to reflect, be present and focus forward.

Reflecting helps you consider new thoughts and actions rather than just carry on doing things as you have always done them. Being present in the weeds allows you to see what’s choking peacefulness. Focusing forward is about getting curious, in a positive way, with what you drives you to do what you do and then to decide if there’s a better way. After spending time in deep thought over the past few weeks, here’s are. my intentions for 2023:

  • Give my opinion only when asked. I’ve made some mistakes this year. I’ve hurt feelings and I’ve crossed boundaries with those close to me. My way isn’t the only way. I don’t know best. Period.

  • Stop chasing happiness from my children. The truth is I did my job right, my children have long been out of the house, and thriving on their own. It’s not their job to fulfill me. It’s time to get curious and cultivate more what tickles my fancy and start doing it.

  • Let go of expectations and be fully present. Expectations unfulfilled lead to disappointment. Letting go lessons suffering. It may seem like letting go is a releasing of goals or control. Truth is it’s the opposite. Letting go means you take full responsibility for each moment. You no longer rely on others to meet your needs. You learn that YOU are the key to a fulfilling life. You enjoy the present moment.

This is deep soul work. It means cultivating that inner voice and changing a mindset. One day at a time my friends and….

It’s all a dance. Diane
